The sixth edition of the Nord Stream Race has just seen five crews representing five nations complete 1,000 nautical miles of intense racing through the Baltic Sea. The Race along the Nord Stream Pipeline connects Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Russia - from the start in Kiel via stopovers in Copenhagen, Stockholm and Helsinki to the finish in St Petersburg, Russia.

Cape Crow Yacht Club from Sweden wins Nord Stream Race 2017

Cape Crow Yacht Club from Hönö near Gothenburg in Sweden has won the Nord Stream Race 2017 (26th August to 6th September) after finishing 3th on the final leg from Helsinki to St. Petersburg in Russia. The Swedes also take the “Nord Stream Cup” for best all-rounder in the combined inshore and offshore ranking. The German team from Deutscher Touring Yacht-Club has won the “Nord Stream Race Inshore Trophy”.

Deutscher Touring Yacht-Club (Team Germany) has won the “Nord Stream Race Inshore Trophy“ after winning two of the three short-course races this afternoon in Helsinki.

Team Sweden wins Leg 3 to Finland

Cape Crow Yacht Club (Team Sweden) has won Leg 3 of the Nord Stream Race, reaching the finish line in Finland before Nyländska Jaktklubben (Team Finland). There was very little distance between any of the five boats during this race from Stockholm, and in third place was Deutscher Touring Yacht-Club (Team Germany), in fourth was Lord of the Sail - Europe (Team Russia), and in fifth place Frederikshavn Sejlklub (Team Denmark).

Fleet departs early to beat big breeze building in the Baltic

Leg 3 of the Nord Stream Race set sail from Stockholm, Sweden, early this morning. The fleet docked out at 0200 hours from the KSSS marina in Saltsjöbaden and motored to the island of Sandhamn for a start at 0600 hours.

German Team Departs Denmark on Leg 2 to Stockholm as Favourite

Leg 2 of the Nord Stream Race set sail from Copenhagen, Denmark this afternoon. At 420 nautical miles, this longest leg of the offshore race organised by St. Petersburg Yacht Club will see its competitors round southern Sweden bound for Stockholm.

Deutscher Touring Yacht-Club (Team Germany) from near Munich has won the first leg of the 2017 Nord Stream from Kiel to Copenhagen. This 1,000 nautical mile offshore yacht race runs from Kiel, Germany, to St. Petersburg, Russia, in four legs.

Connecting Baltics through Sports

5 Teams, 5 Countries, 4 Legs: the Nord Stream Race starts on the 26th of August for the 6th time – 1,000 nautical miles across the Baltic Sea. The Nord Stream Race takes sailors from five nations in eleven days from Kiel via Copenhagen, Stockholm and Helsinki to Saint Petersburg. In addition to the sporting competition, the contact between the 50 predominantly young sailors is in the foreground.

National Sailing Leagues meet the Nord Stream Race

The champion clubs from the National Sailing Leagues from Denmark, Finland, Germany, Russia and Sweden have qualified for the 2017 edition of the Nord Stream Race, the 1,000 nautical mile offshore race through the Baltic Sea. The five clubs will be racing in a fleet of brand-new, one-design ClubSwan 50 racing yachts.

The Strongest Yacht Clubs of the Baltic Prepare for 1000 Mile Competition in Rebooted Nord Stream Race

This summer, a new format for the Nord Stream Race brings together some of the most high-achieving yacht clubs from the National Sailing Leagues: Starting on 25th August, the Baltic Sea’s best clubs to emerge from the 2016 season of the Sailing League will compete for the honour of becoming the “Best Yacht Club of the Baltic Sea”. The long-distance regatta takes the fleet from Kiel via Copenhagen, Stockholm and Helsinki to the finish in Saint Petersburg.

Team Germany wins Nord Stream Invitational Race 2016 - SY SGM is fastest Swan in the Baltic Sea

As the first of the competitors, Team Germany on board SY “SGM” crossed the finish line of the second leg of the Nord Stream Invitational Race 2016 in Warnemünde at 02:58 AM on Friday morning, 10th June, having sailed nonstop for 3 days, 8 hours and 13 minutes on their way from the Finish capital of Helsinki. Combined with their 3rd place in leg one from St. Petersburg to Helsinki it makes them the overall winners of the 5th edition of this Baltic Offshore Challenge. “As a pure amateur crew who have never sailed in this constellation before, our expectations were not as high as standing here now holding this trophy”, said an overjoyed skipper Alexander Prinz zu Schleswig-Holstein at the prize giving ceremony just before his crew surprised him for the second time – this time with a decent champagne shower.

Follow Nord Stream Invitational Race 2016 live - International teams on Gazprom Swan 60 yachts start in Saint Petersburg for ultimate Baltic offshore challenge

The battle is on: Tomorrow, on Sunday the 5th of June at 12pm local time, talented and dedicated sailing crews will take on the Baltic Sea on board of five Swan 60 yachts. The fleet of Nord Stream Invitational Race 2016 will leave Saint Petersburg/Russia at midday racing the 150 nautical miles of the first leg to the Finnish capital of Helsinki. After a short stopover, the second leg will be started, leading the participants all the way to Warnemünde/Germany – 560 tough nautical miles across the Baltic Sea.

The Saint Petersburg Yacht Club, assisted by the Norddeutscher Regatta Verein in co-operation with Helsingfors Segelklubb and Rostocker Regatta Verein, is organising the Nord Stream Invitational Race. Starting on 5th June 2016 the route of this challenging offshore regatta will follow the Nord Stream pipeline, leading the participants from Saint Petersburg, Russia to Rostock-Warnemünde, Germany with a stopover in Helsinki, Finland.

Participants from Germany, Russia, Italy, Spain, Poland, New Zealand and other nations celebrated the winners of the Nord Stream Race 2015 in the glamorous Maritime Museum in Saint Petersburg on Saturday, 26th September. The Nord Stream Race is the longest non-stop race in the Baltic Sea. “For the fourth time now the Saint Petersburg Yacht Club and the Norddeutscher Regatta Verein are organising the “Nord Stream Race“, with the purpose of building bridges between nations and to cultivate friendships on a sporting level. Especially in politically difficult times it is important to promote events such as the Nord Stream Race“, said Alexander Prinz of Schleswig-Holstein from Norddeutscher Regatta Verein during his speech at the prize giving ceremony in Saint Petersburg.

SPIRIT OF EUROPE and BROADER VIEW HAMBURG are the winners of Nord Stream Race 2015 - SPIRIT OF EUROPE performs start-finish victory – BROADER VIEW HAMBURG wins ORC duel

As the first of the participants Swan 60 SPIRIT OF EUROPE crossed the finish line of Nord Stream Race 2015 just off Saint Petersburg at 21:04 local time on Wednesday 23rd September. Skipper Tim Kröger and his crew completed the 800 nautical miles in only three days, eight hours and four minutes. The winner of the ORC class is the Andrews 56 BROADER VIEW HAMBURG with skipper Georg Christiansen who finished after three days, 18 hours and 24 minutes.

Fast trip across the Baltic - Nord Stream Race started in Flensburg

Seven fast offshore racing yachts started to Nord Stream Race 2015 on the Flensburg Fjord today. Under perfect sailing conditions they ventured out on the challenging sailing race across the Baltic Sea. The route of the race, which is being organised by Saint Petersburg Yacht Club and Norddeutscher Regatta Verein, is 800 nautical miles long and finishes in Saint Petersburg. On 12 pm sharp principal race officer Stefan Kunstmann started the race and the fleet of seven yachts dashed away towards the Baltic Sea in sunshine and at wind force five, in gusts up to six.

Participants of Nord Stream Race are sailing in aid of World Childhood Foundation

Before the start of the actual Nord Stream Race off Flensburg which will take place tomorrow, on 20. September at 12 pm, the participants and some guests went out on the race course today for a good cause. The organisers, Norddeutscher Regatta Verein and Saint Petersburg Yacht Club, had invited the crews to take part in the Childhood Charity Race whose proceeds are donated to the World Childhood Foundation. As the official representative of the city of Flensburg, head of town council Swetlana Krätzschmar sailed as a guest on board of BRONENOSEC together with her husband Prof. Dr. Michael Krätzschmar (head of the institute for applied mathematics in Flensburg) and they ended up the winners of today’s race.

Nord Stream Race starts on 20. September – Who is the fastest to sail across the Baltic Sea?

In only a few days the participants of Nord Stream Race 2015 will leave the Flensburg Fjord and head out to the 800 nautical mile race towards Saint Petersburg. For some crews this is familiar terrain as they have already sailed the same route in 2013 or at least crossed the Baltic Sea in the other direction during Nord Stream Race 2014. For others it will be the first time they dare to advance this far out into the eastern part of the Baltic. In both cases the crews starting the race on 20. September will have spent a considerable amount of offshore miles on board together and will have prepared thoroughly as the Baltic can hold challenging conditions for the sailors at this time of the year.

Childhood Charity Race

The Norddeutscher Regatta Verein and the Saint Petersburg Yacht Club are inviting VIPs and celebrities to take part in the Childhood Charity Race on Saturday, 19.09.2015. On board of the 20 metre Swan 60 yachts, owned by the Saint Petersburg Yacht Club, the participants will sail a charity race in favour of the World Childhood Foundation. The race will take place on Saturday as part of the Flensburger Fördewoche. On the water we can expect exciting and tight situations amongst the fast Swan 60 yachts which will be sailed by professional crews. Action and excitement is guaranteed.

Entry list promises exciting Nord Stream Race 2015

Four month before the start of Nord Stream Race 2015 the entry list is filling up with interesting participants. On 20th of September ORC and Swan 60 yachts will start together on the Flensburger Förde off Glücksburg for the 800 nautical mile non-stop race to Saint Petersburg. Alexander Prinz zu Schleswig-Holstein, NRV board member for offshore affairs, is especially pleased about the reception amongst the ORC class: “The word is slowly getting around in the offshore regatta scene that Nord Stream Race has a very unique experience to offer."

On the occasion of the international trade fair “hanseboot“ in Hamburg the Norddeutscher Regatta Verein (NRV) as one of the co-organisers officially announced the programme of the Nord Stream Race 2015. On 20th of September 2015 at 12:00 CET ORC and Gazprom Swan 60 yachts will start from Flensburg/Glücksburg for a non-stop race across the Baltic Sea. 800 nautical miles away the finish line will be waiting, just off Saint Petersburg.

“Bronenosec“ wins Nord Stream Race 2014 - Team China and Team Europe in second and third place

On 5th of June at 03:35am (CEST) Team Russia with skipper Igor Frolov crossed the finish line right at the entrance of the Warnemünde harbour. With this result the crew of “Bronenosec“ not only claimed victory for the final leg but also for the overall ranking of the Swan 60 class in Nord Stream Race 2014. Runner-up at in the long distance race from Helsinki to Warnemünde was the Chinese “Windward“ of Yeliang Fan with skipper Lorenzo Bortolotti. For Team China this meant an improvement in their overall ranking from fourth to second place. The German sailing professional Tim Kröger with his “Spirit of Europe“ crew came in third place in the long distance race as well as in the overall ranking.

Team Russia in the lead before long-distance leg - Start for racing 600 nautical miles to Rostock-Warnemünde

On 2nd of June at 11 am the Nord Stream Race fleet will leave for the third and final part of the regatta across the Baltic Sea. After the first leg from Saint Petersburg to Helsinki and three short inshore races, the Russian Team with skipper Igor Frolov is in the lead by a large margin. Team Germany and Team Europe follow behind on rank 2 and 3 level on points.

From Saint Petersburg to Warnemünde via Helsinki - Nord Stream Race 2014 starts in Russia on 30th of May

Today the Norddeutscher Regatta Verein (NRV) and Saint Petersburg Yacht Club (SPYC) have announced the programme for Nord Stream Race 2014 during a press conference of their partner Marinepool which was held at boot Düsseldorf. After in 2013 the race went nonstop northwards from Germany to Russia, this year the course starts in Saint Petersburg and ends in Rostock-Warnemünde with a stopover in Finland’s capital Helsinki.

Team Great Britain wins Gazprom Swan 60 class - “Outsider” with skipper Tilmar Hansen dominates ORC fleet - Nord Stream Race 2014 planned for May next year

In a thrilling final of Nord Stream Race 2013 that could not have been more exciting the British Team on board the Swan 60 “Tsaar Peter” has prevailed over the Russian “Bronenosec”. After 800 nautical miles both yachts passed the finishing line off Saint Petersburg only 26 seconds apart. In contrast to this the ORC class has been clearly dominated by “Outsider” who finished the regatta with some distance as First Ship Home and winner of her division. Additionally plans for Nord Stream Race 2014 were revealed at the concluding press conference today.

The Nord Stream Race fleet is on its way - Spectacular start of the Swan 60 yachts

Whilst the ORC-yachts left in time yesterday towards Russia, the Swan 60 had to wait for their start until 4pm today. Earlier the race committee followed a request from the Swan 60 class and announced a start postponement. Reason for this was damage of the forestay of the Russian yacht “Bronenosec“ which already occurred before the originally planned start time of 12.30pm. However, this was repaired in the course of the day.

Bright faces from Team Germany - Sven-Erik Horsch and his crew win Inshore Trophy

Sven-Erik Horsch from Hamburg and his Team Germany are the winner of the Nord Stream Race Inshore Trophy in Flensburg. The 34-year old skipper decided the overall victory for himself with a first and a second place in the fleet race-series. Tim Kröger with Team Europe came second. On the following places are the teams from Russia, Great Britain and Turkey.

Great atmosphere, but no wind - Match Race abandoned, new attempt tomorrow

Sometimes everything seems to come together and then there is still one thing that upsets the plan. Due to a lack of wind the Nord Stream Match Race in Flensburg that was planned for today had to be abandoned. After several start postponements the race committee tried to at least start a fleet race but after exceeding the time limit of 45 minutes this had to be abandoned, too. Now the organisers have scheduled two fleet races for the Gazprom Swan 60-yachts for tomorrow, 13th of September at 3.30pm. Hence it is definitely worthwhile to come back to Marina Sonwik tomorrow, too, or to at least follow the Online Live Stream on www.nord-stream-race.com.

On 12th of September, at 12pm, the time has finally come for the start to the Nord Stream Nations Cup Match Race. Five Gazprom Swan 60-yachts will be competing in exciting one-on-one duels right in front of the Marina Sonwik in Flensburg. The international sailing elite is going to attend, World and European Champions, Olympic athletes and many America’s Cup- and Volvo Ocean Race-participants will be there.

Bigboat Sailing within one’s gasp in Flensburg - Nord Stream Race 2013 starts with Match Race

Match Racing is probably the most popular form of regatta sailing that can attract and thrill a public audience. Therefore the organisers of Nord Stream Race 2013 have decided to crown the start of the 800sm long-distance-regatta from Flensburg to Saint Petersburg with a Match Race-event that is going to draw the attention of sailing- and water sports-fans from all over the region. The Match Race-Regatta is going to be held with almost 20 metre-long Gazprom Swan 60 yachts. The Swan 60s are a dynamic one-design-class, which celebrated its initiation last year. Five teams from five different countries will compete directly in a one on one challenge on Thursday, 12th of September.

With Highspeed to Saint Petersburg - Planning for the Nord Stream Race is under way

Start for the second edition of the Nord Stream Race is on the 15th of September 2013. Besides the Gazprom Swan 60-yachts which will start in their own division, the entry list for ORC-yachts is also growing constantly. To make the preparations as easy as possible for the sailors, the organisers support the participants wherever they can. NRV has organised a professional visa support for travelling to Russia as well as special hotel arrangements with fixed prices for participants. In order to help with the return transport of yachts from Saint Petersburg back to the respective home port the NRV offers two solutions: Yachts can either be transported on a cargo ferry or by hiring a professional crew.

The Yacht Club of Saint Petersburg, Russia (SPBYC) and the Norddeutscher Regatta Verein (NRV) are delighted to announce the next edition of the Nord Stream Race in 2013. In the middle of September more than 800 nautical miles will be covered to cross the Baltic Sea from Flensburg / Glücksburg, Germany to Saint Petersburg, Russia. The race will be nonstop and open for Gazprom Swan 60 class and yachts under ORC handicap.
