About Norddeutscher Regatta Verein
Norddeutscher Regatta Verein (NRV) is one of the oldest and with currently about 2,000 members the largest sailing club in Germany.

Founded in 1868, the club is committed to regatta sailing and is particularly focused on supporting young people in their sailing ambitions. One ongoing goal is to introduce the club's youth sailors to regatta sailing and support them for example via the NRV Youth Team.

As regatta organiser the NRV is co-founder of Kieler Woche and Travemünder Woche and remains closely involved in the organisation of those traditional events as well as other prestigious international regattas.

Active NRV members are coached through intensive training programmes. Since establishing the NRV Olympic Team after the Olympic Games in Sydney 2000, the NRV has been represented regularly at the Olympic Games. At London 2012, the Paralympic sailors won two silver medals for Germany and the NRV. At Rio 2016, NRV sailors Erik Heil and Thomas Ploessel won bronze in the 49er.

In the first six years of the German Sailing League, NRV has won four times and claimed the national championship title.
